My role is an Aboriginal led initiative connecting Aboriginal students with support within their community. Education and connectedness to Country, culture and community are important. Together, these contribute to better learning, employment, and health outcomes for our young Aboriginal people.
The Community Connector initiative is led by the Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO) as part of the Premier’s Priority on Aboriginal Education and Culture in partnership with the Department of Education and Premier and Cabinet. The Priority aims to increase the proportion of Aboriginal students attaining their HSC by 50% by 2023, while maintaining their cultural identity.
I will work with Aboriginal students in Year 10 in 2021, Year 11 in 2022 and Year 12 in 2023, supporting them to be culturally strong and remain engaged at school.
