Support Officer

The Post School Support Officer (PSSO) program aims to provide assistance to young Aboriginal people who are in the final stages of their high school journey or post high school with their transition to independence, and success in sustaining training or employment.

The Post School Support Officer program has a focus on establishing strong relationships with high schools, industry ties, employer and training partnerships. The program works with the Opportunity Hub and other programs delivered by the Tamworth LALC to provide wrap around support services and can provide assistance and information on understanding emerging industries and skills shortage and employment trends.

The Post School Support Officer services the Tamworth region and holds flexibility in providing holistic, individualised and culturally appropriate support to the participants. Some of the support given will include but not limited to;

The program aims to build and maintain relationships with mainstream organisations and local businesses to establish connections in the emerging industries to assist Aboriginal people in the placement in sustainable jobs. The program focusses on providing assistance to post- school students however extends that assistance to work with school leavers and young parents of any age.
